DuPont Corian Maintenance Tips

Corian care

Taking care for your Corian services is relatively easy. There are three types of countertop finishes; matte, semi-gloss, and gloss. The easiest way to care for your countertops is to use soapy water. You may use an ammonia-based cleaner with a gray Scotch-Brite cleaning pad on the matte’ finish. Avoid using a more abrasive scrubbing sponge as this may scratch the Corian. Thde green Scotch Brite pad may be too abrasive so make sure to get the light gray, not the green! Also, avoid using metal scouring pads!

Prevent Heat Damage

Make sure not to leave hot pots or pans directly on your Corian surfaces. Corian is very resistant to heat damage, but it is not invulnerable to heat damage. Make sure to use a hot plate or similar barrier between hot pots and pans and the surface. Do not use strong chemicals such as paint removers, oven cleaners, or other harsh chemicals on your Corian. Wash your surfaces promptly should they come in contact with harsh chemicals.

With most countertops it is not wise to use your Corian countertops as a cutting board. Cutting directly on the counters will destroy your counters and dull your knives.
